Why do you need it?

Original VW Reverse Camera provides a 130° view to the rear, displayed on the Multi Media Interface screen. The image is overlaid with coloured graphics and shows the path the vehicle will take based on the position of the steering wheel. With blind spots minimised, the driver is able to park effortlessly in even the tightest of parking spots.
As per Volkswagen blurb, the reversing camera is only a guide to give you an idea of what’s behind you. The guidelines for instance are to show the intended trajectory of the vehicle and not representative of the width or parking bays. You must use this system in conjunction with other driving aids such as sensors and mirrors.
The camera starts working as soon as you put your car into reverse gear. It shows the area behind your car on your radio navigation system display offering you a clear reversing image with easy-to-follow guidelines. Superimposed graphic lines guide you to the optimal steering lock, guaranteeing fuss-free, smooth parking.
How does it work?
Parking Sensors will only be visible if you have the Front & Rear System Installed. If you only have Rear Sensors or no Sensors at all then you won’t get this display on screen.
Using the reverse camera means you'll be able to manoeuvre quickly and easily, even into the most difficult parking space. It also alerts you to low-down obstacles which parking sensors cannot always detect.
Important notes on Reverse Camera Retrofits:
Unofficial Reverse Camera Retrofits are carried out within a vehicle's electrical and computer systems. During general updates for vehicle software (for example, during service or repair works) any and all Reverse Camera Retrofits may be overwritten or indeed removed. If this happens Cambridge Parking Sensors can attempt to restore any overwritten or removed Reverse Camera Retrofits for an administration fee of £79.
